yes. I agree..we should all ptietion a compilation of our maids woes and complaints and send them to the Straits Times Forum page as well as the New Paper. Then, maybe MOM will respond.MOM should set up an equal rights for maid & employer. I hv been having maid for 8 yrs (6maids). My 1st maid work for 1mth (complain of leg pain and i caught her neglecting my 1 yrs old son and 5 mth old son. She was enjoying her food on the dinning table whilst my 1st son was crying leaning against the partition to the kitchen and she use her feet to cradle my 5 mth baby who was in the baby cradle. 2nd maid only works for 3 mth (day dreaming & home sick) 4th maid only work for 1 mth (attitude problem and hm sick)5th maid works for 5 yrs(sincere, trustworthy )Unfortunately, she wanted to go hm on Nov 2009 and started to argue w us upon pointing her mistake. But now she is working w her new employer and has been contacting us & telling us that her new employer is very nasty & she request us to employ her again which we will nvr. (as I am holding grudges bcus of her rudeness twds us b4 she left)But all the while, I hv been cooking for my family. I am a working mother 8.30am - 6pm. SO I will always cook after i reach hm & dinner will always be late at abt 9pm. Those dishes are also meant for nx day lunch for my kids. My maid will also eat my cooking. Do u think tat is fair. An employer who is a helper to her own maid???!!!But really can eat their cooking. I will also do our weekly marketing w/out maid.And now my new maid is with me for abt 4 mths but is giving me lot problem. She has a cleanliness problem. She would only clean those that is in front of her nose. She has no initiative to do house work despite being taught. Everyday I will hv to check on the laundry, cleanliness of the house and also my kids school attire. There was several time that i caught her dressing up my son w a dirty &crumpled uniform. And even caught her dumping all the clothing mixed w towels, socks in the washing machine!!!I have requested for a replcement and was told to wait for 4 to 6 wks. And on top of that I have to just tolerate my maid work that will end up w me & my hubby doing the cleaning. I was also told by the agency that I am liable for my current maid levy for 1 month upon collecting my new maid. IS THAT FAIR?? Why do I have to pay for their levy when they no longer work for me and whilst she is with the agent waiting for a neww employer?? We hv been paying for their mthly salary & levy eventhough we are the one who are 75% doing the house chores. Its really unfair but who will help an employer like me. Why cant the agent deal w the maid w rgds to their loan? We are not employing maid to settle their loan!! We hv paid the agencies fee to bring them in.MOM should hv set up a TEAM to look into this matter. Ensure that maid & employer are given the relevant right. Agencies shouldn't be allowed to make employer responsible for the maid loan.
